Wes married Shannon Fitzgerald, a native Austinite, in 1997. They moved to Dripping Springs in 2005 and live with their children Lily (a junior at Texas Tech), Josie (a freshman at LSU), and Woody (a sophomore at Dripping Springs High School).
Wes graduated from the University of Texas Plan II Honors Program in 1989 where he was a Presidential Honors Scholar and a National Merit Scholar. Wes also took part in the UT Summer exchange program and studied at Oxford University in England. Wes received his law degree from the University of Texas Law School in 1992.
